Reflexology
Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the theory that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body. Reflexologists use their fingers and thumbs on these reflex areas, stimulating circulation and nerve function, reducing stress, promoting relaxation and helping the body to heal itself.
Reflexology is an ancient therapy that can be traced back to early Roman and Egyptian times. Modern reflexology was developed by the pioneering American physiotherapist, Eunice Ingham, in the 1930s. Eunice set up the International Institute of Reflexology (IIR), the only body licensed to teach and practise her methods. IIR practitioners are trained in both foot and hand reflexology. I received my diploma in Reflexology from the Institure of Reflexology (IIR) and am a Member of the Association of Reflexology (MAR), the main regulatory body of reflexologists in the UK.
Reflexology is suitable for everyone, from babies to the elderly, teenagers to pregnant women.
