About and FAQs

This interactive and invaluable course for expectant dads comprises lots of discussion, practical skills and workshop activities, facilitated in a safe space. It explores the dad’s role in the growing family, including the practical elements, support for their partner and baby and changing relationships. The main topics are detailed below. The sessions will involve open discussion and give plenty of time for questions to be asked and friendships to form. WHAT DOES THE WORKSHOP COVER? The basics of labour and childbirth – with a focus on the role of dads. Supporting your partner during labour and birth. Practical baby care –handling, clothing, dressing, nappy changing, bathing and putting to bed. Life as a new dad – including a visit from a new dad. Emotional issues including postnatal depression, postnatal life and how dads can look after themselves. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? This group provides a place where dads can be free to ask the questions that are important to them. It also provides an opportunity for the dads to create a network and support group to help them through their experience of becoming dads. WHAT CAN I EXPECT? The course uses a combination of videos, talking and practical activities. It is very informal and there are lots of opportunities to ask questions and share information with other dads. WHO IS IT FOR? Any dads to be who feel they would benefit from a course focusing on them.
