Facilitator for Premature Babies Support Group

The Pregnancy and Parents Centre is an Edinburgh based charity working with women and their families during pregnancy and early parenthood. We provide emotional and practical support during pregnancy and early parenting to help build confidence, knowledge and a sense of community.

We are currently looking for a committed and enthusiastic group facilitator to run a fortnightly weekend group for parents and families of premature babies. Applicants will be experienced at leading support groups, will have knowledge and experience of premature birth and parenting and will have knowledge of local maternity services and support organisations. Knowledge and experience of facilitating group discussions to enable families to form supportive networks is also essential.

The aim of our group is to provide a welcoming space where parents feel safe to explore their own personal journey of parenting their own child(ren), to support one another and build confidence through sharing knowledge and experiences and to foster community connections.

The fortnightly sessions (of 1.5 hours) will include introductions, discussion about members’ experiences and topics of interest over tea and biscuits.

This post is for a period of 6 months (through funding from Corra Foundation) but it is hoped that further funding will be secured to continue.  This is a self employed role and the hourly rate of pay is £20 per hour. The sessions will run on the morning of the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.  We anticipate this group initially running online due to restrictions around social distancing which limits the numbers of attendees we can have in any group.
